What information do I need to transfer money to debit or credit cards1?

Before you send money to a debit or credit card1, you’ll need the following information to hand:

  • Receiver’s name and contact details
  • Receiver’s bank card number
  • Receiver’s IBAN and BIC
  • Valid photo ID — if identify verification is required for your transfer.

Where is the IBAN on a credit card1?

In most cases you won’t be able to find an IBAN on a credit card. The cards are always linked to an account that—in Europe at least—always has its own international bank account number (IBAN) too. You can find this IBAN on the credit card statement, for example. However, the card itself usually only contains the 13- to 16-digit credit card number on the front and the three-digit card verification code (CVC) on the back.

How long does it take to send money to a credit1 or debit card?

This depends on which country you’re sending the money to. An international money transfer can take up to five working days.

Can you transfer money to a credit card1?

The basic answer is yes. Most credit cards are linked to a credit card account, to which money can be transferred at any time. Even if you use Western Union to send money to a credit card, we will deposit the amount into the account associated with the card.

Once you have ordered your transfer to a credit card, we will send the money to the credit card account to which it is linked.
