    What do I need to send money online to Canada from the UK?

    1. Once you’re registered with Western Union, you will need your receiver’s bank details to send money online to Canada from the UK. You will also need:
      • Your name, address, banking details and account number
      • The purpose of your money transfer
      • The receiver’s full name, address, financial institution number, branch transit number, bank name and account number.

      If arranging a cash pick-up online, enter the destination and amount you wish to send and select ‘Cash pick-up’. You will then only need to enter your receiver’s name and address. Pay with credit2 or debit card and receive your MTCN number.

    How much money can I send to Canada?

    If you wish to send more than 799.99 GBP within a five-day period3, you will need to confirm your identity with Western Union first. Once we have confirmed your identity, you’ll be able to transfer up to 4,000 GBP for cash pickup within a three-day3 period.

    For bank transfer to bank account payouts, you can send up to 50,000 GBP per transfer. Bank transfers are available for UK residents only.

    How do I send money to Canada from a Western Union location?

    1. Search for a Western Union agent location near you.
    2. Go directly to the counter with your valid government-issued ID or phone number and bring your receiver’s bank and account details. Please note you may need to provide proof of source of funds, so ensure you have a bank statement, payslip or tax return with you.
    3. Pay by cash or with debit/credit2.
    4. We’ll give you a receipt with the tracking number for your transfer (MTCN). Share this number with your receiver securely to track and collect the funds.

    How long it takes to send money to Canada from the UK can depend on how you choose to transfer money. If your loved one wants to receive their money in cash, then this could arrive in minutes3. However, if they are receiving the money to their bank account, then this could take up to four business days3.
